What is Domain Registration?
Domains are the ****.ca that you typically know as the main identity of a website. Domain registration is the process of registering a domain so that you can use it for your website.
Not every wish can be granted, however, for your domain ideas. You have to check if the domain you want is available. The more specific your business name is, the more likely you are to be able to register it as a domain, such as ‘www.veryspecificcompanyname.ca’.
However, if you happen to have a generic name, you may have to search to find an alternative domain name, for example ‘smithconstruction.ca’… As you might know, this could be a common name across the country, as such, its first come, first served.
Is Your Domain Available?
There are many different places to find out if your desired domain name is available.
I recommend checking Google Domains, as you can see all the different domain endings (TDL’s), such as .com, .ca, .org, as well as many new TDL’s that people still don’t know about.
When you choose to work with me, however, I typically handle the registration process so you don’t have to worry about it. Domain registration and renewal is part of my all inclusive web design and hosting services.
*I also ALWAYS include an SSL certificate for increased security.
